Patience - A Fruit of the Holy Spirit
/Patience..Are you patient with your own self? Are you patient with others? Frustration, lack of communication, and self imposed expectations are several root causes for us to lose patience with ourselves and with others.
Here is good news: God is always patient with us!! It doesn't matter what we have done in our actions or words, his unconditional love prevails. He is patient with us as we work through some of the 'not so good' decisions we have made and go to him with our hearts open seeking forgiveness.
Have you heard the expression, 'the patience of Job'? This phrase is taken from the Old Testament book of Job where God allowed Satan to surround Job and impact his life with great suffering. Through death of his family, home and all his assets destroyed and his own body covered with sores, Job still praised God.
The 'patience of Job' expression has its origin in this verse in the book of James, “Brothers and sisters, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. As you know, we count as blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.” James 5:10-11

Patience is a gift from God through the Holy Spirit. As we grow in our faith with God, our fruit of patience seems to come quicker to our hearts and minds as the Holy Spirit within us releases this fresh fruit and brings forth tolerance, acceptance, and restraint. Bless God!
